Over 80% of the engineers graduate wind up seeking after non-technical jobs
This is because of the lack of accessible employment
opportunities.
To address the gap between skills required for top-notch
technology occupations and work-preparation of graduates, Scaler (a platform by
edtech start-up InterviewBit) has introduced a first of its kind school buddy
program called Scaler Edge – to support the employability of engineering
graduates. Furthermore, to satisfy the developing need for online skilling
courses, the organization plans to employ 500 all the more teaching partners
and guides in this economical year.
As per industry studies, 15 lakh engineers graduate in India
each year out of which just 2.5 lakh engineers land in related employments in
the technical field. Out of those generally, 2.2 lakh openings are in software,
within which a dominant part (1.8 lakh occupations) are in IT services
gathering around just INR 3-5 LPA in compensation.
The lack of industry-prepared skills is a noteworthy reason
for the current status of jobs over the industry. To address this disparity, a
2-year school partner program planned with contribution from top CTOs and
engineers across tech organizations are being introduced by Scaler to assist
engineers with building industry-related skillsets and seek after professional
tracks of the future.
Where are the top engineering jobs?
Studies further propose that of the accessible engineer's
graduate occupations, just approx. 40,000 occupations (for ~3% of ~15L
engineers) provide a perfect blend of autonomy and learning potential with
package upwards of INR 8-10 LPA for freshers.
Moreover, of the 3% of graduates that land desired lucrative
and excellent occupations, the greater part originates from Tier 1
universities—meaning the lack of good quality openings for students from Tier 2
and Tier 3 schools.
The difference in available job openings across institutions prompts around 12.5 lakh engineers pretty much each year who need to reroute alternatives and seek after non-technical openings to stay streaming.
